Poker

Depending on the game you are playing, you will need to decide how much money you wish to put in the pot. The stakes in Poker vary and are agreed on at the outset. If you are playing for a large sum of cash, you will need to put a higher amount into the pot.

During each round, players must make an ante. This is a forced bet which can be either an ante or blind. The winner takes the pot.

The first player to act is the one to the left of the dealer button. He or she must post a small and a big blind. If there is more than one player in the pot, then the betting is split between the remaining players.

Each player is dealt seven cards. They may be dealt face down or face up. The highest card is used to determine who wins. If there are ties, the high card breaks the tie.

The highest ranked hand is only available in a particular variant. A hand with three distinct pairs of cards plus a fifth card is the highest of the lot. In a tournament, the highest ranked hand is the best.

The three card brag was a popular gentleman’s game in the American Revolution. It still holds up today.

The three card brag consists of three cards being dealt to each player. The cards are dealt in order. The dealer then cuts them up. The player who receives the highest ranked card is the winner. The hand is then turned over and displayed.
